Common Routes rebuilds community, one walk at a time.

Everyone’s invited. Everyone’s welcome.

Young, old, four‑legged or otherwise. Local people meeting in nature.

No pressure. No politics. No agenda.

Just shared space, conversation, and real connection.

Because society doesn’t live online. It lives outside your front door.

Let’s rediscover our routes to The Commons together.

We exist to bring people together.

Common Routes is a community walking and activities group in Welwyn Garden City, meeting monthly at the Coronation Fountain, on the corner of Howardsgate and Parkway (What3Words: ///rocket.dogs.invent).

It creates a simple space for people to connect in an increasingly disconnected world, built around one idea, that offline is the new online.

With no pressure or expectations, it begins with a simple walk, offering a warm and welcoming environment inspired by the idea of the commons, a space where anyone can belong. In time, the goal is for that same spirit to extend into picnics, games, and dancing, simple ways of bringing people back into a common space, present in the same moment, sharing fun, laughter, and connection.

From this simplicity, friendships and community grow naturally, a reminder that when we create the opportunity, people come together, because everyone needs a place to belong.
